Schedule B and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Updated in the Automated Export System (AES)

Effective immediately, the Schedule B and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) tables in the AES have been updated to accept the changes to the 2016 codes.

The AES will accept shipments with outdated 2015 codes during a grace period for 30 days beyond the expiration date of December 31, 2015. Reporting an outdated 2015 code after the 30 day grace period will result in a fatal error.

The legacy AESDirect program has been updated with the 2016 codes and will accept shipments with outdated 2015 codes during the grace period as well.

The Refactored AESDirect program has been updated with the 2016 codes. The outdated 2015 codes are not available, but will be added on approximately January 14, 2016 and available at that time during the remainder of the grace period. Filers wanting to report outdated 2015 codes prior to approximately January 14, 2016 should file in the legacy AESDirect program.

All AESPcLink users must update their AESDirect code tables to reflect the 2016 changes in Schedule B and HTS. Web users of AESDirect who file via the website at aesdirect.census.gov or through ACE will have their code tables updated via the program automatically.
