Our Journey

Our journey began in 1983, when three friends – Ed Kaplan, Joe Wyson, and Harvey Waite –  shared a dream to pioneer a new approach in supply chain logistics.  Their Vision:  to create an innovative, flexible global logistics company that works in a true partnership with its clients.

Starting out as a small air export firm, OCEANAIR built our reputation by providing our clients with exceptional customer service, innovative solutions to their unique international transportation challenges, and a commitment to educating our clients on international trade and regulatory compliance.  With the addition of our Perishables and Pharmaceuticals divisions and the opening of our second location in Portland, Maine, we quickly grew to become one of the region’s leaders in international logistics management and supply chain solutions.

Today, we continue to provide traditional Freight Forwarding services, but the needs of our clients are much different than they were in 1983.  The reliance on foreign-sourced products and the advent of e-commerce left a gap in the supply chain, so we committed to being more than just a Freight Forwarder.  To protect our nation’s supply chain, we became CTPAT certified and opened a Certified Cargo Screening Facility.  We empowered our clients to make informed decisions about their supply chains by providing valuable Business Intelligence when we adopted best-in-class technology solutions.  To help our clients meet the rising demands stemming from e-commerce, distribution, and order fulfillment, we became a premiere Logistics Service Provider by opening our Warehousing and Distribution Center.   And we optimized logistics execution when we expanded our service offerings with the addition of our Truckload Brokerage division.
