Just when you think the Census Bureau has finalized the data elements for AES submissions, up comes a proposal to add two new AES data elements. Now that we have all adjusted our IT systems to account for the past changes, here is a new proposal that may require additional changes to your exporting software.
Although the changes are not earth shaking, they will still have to be done for you to file a legally correct AES submission.
If you wish to express your feelings about the proposed changes, now is your chance. Included below are a summary from Sandler & Travis Trade Advisory Services and a link to the Federal Register from August 20, 2015, Volume 80, Number 161, Pages 50597-50598. Comments from the trade are about the only way you express your thoughts and concerns to the authorities who write the regulations.
