Russian oil giants Rosneft and Lukoil have been formally added to the U.S. OFAC sanctions list, prohibiting imports and financial transactions with those entities. The list includes numerous subsidiaries and is expected to affect oil purchases by third-party countries—such as India—that conduct business with the U.S.

“Now is the time to stop the killing and implement an immediate ceasefire,” said Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent. “Given President Putin’s refusal to end this senseless war, the Treasury is sanctioning Russia’s two largest oil companies, which fund the Kremlin’s war machine. The Treasury stands ready to take further action, if necessary, to support President Trump’s efforts to end yet another war. We encourage our allies to join us and uphold these sanctions.”

A crackdown on unqualified and illegal truck drivers in the U.S. is already said to be tightening capacity in certain markets, but some are calling for even stronger enforcement. The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) is urging the House of Representatives and Senate to codify new truck driver licensing rules into law. The association is also advocating for improved driver training programs and more rigorous audits of new carriers. Additionally, the group opposes lowering the legal age to drive a commercial truck in interstate commerce from 21 to 18.
